The Cadets will go through a series of briefings to prepare them for the physically and mentally demanding situations they will encounter during CST. Some of the things covered are basic standards and expectations with a focus on equal opportunity and sexual harassment.

All arriving Cadets will have their personal stuff vetted and be issued new equipment to use during their time at Fort Knox. Physical exams and fitness tests are also conducted, along with weapons training in the later phases.

One Cadet mentor commented on his role as an MS3, “We’re set up to be squad leaders with the incoming Cadets. We’re supposed to be mentoring them and working with Drill Sergeants facilitating training. This helps develop us and our training as an officer [but] also helps…develop [the] Cadets.”

On the first day, groups are organized into units and assigned barracks. Teamwork and leadership concepts are enforced from the very start, and will continue to be taught during the whole of Basic Camp.

Cadet Summer Training will bring around 8,200 Cadets through Basic and Advanced Camp this summer on Fort Knox. These camps are designed to help challenge, grow and improve various skills and leadership qualities within the Cadets.
