FORT KNOX, Ky.—Military families learn to treasure small moments in between leaves. In many ways, those times become that much sweeter.

1st Regiment, Basic Camp graduates tomorrow, bringing their 31-day stay at Fort Knox to a close. Today, families, significant others, and Cadets reunited, trading embraces, kisses, and congratulations.
“We love getting her back, but we are so proud of what she did,” Steve Friedrich said. “Giving her a hug, that was the main thing I wanted to do today.”
His daughter, Cadet Madison Friedrich, thanked God and Jesus for being back with her family. Basic Camp is the first step on her way to join the JAG Corps.
“I’m happy to be out of the heat and to be done with training,” Cadet Friedrich shared.

Going forward, Cadet Friedrich plans on completing her degree at Clemson University, gaining internship experience with law practices, and eventually earning her commission after Advanced Camp.
Cadet Christopher Currie from St. Anselm University could not have been prouder of his battle buddies.
“I wouldn’t be here without them,” Currie smiled. “This whole thing has taught me how important that is—to rely on your battle buddies no matter what happens. I feel proud to be where I am.”

Mia Stephan clung to her big sister’s waist. Cadet Haiven Bowersock hugged Mia’s head.
“I’m really excited for graduation tomorrow,” Bowersock said. “This was definitely a good experience to be thrown into because I wasn’t sure what I was getting myself into. I learned a lot about myself.”
Bowersock goes to Lindenwood University and is still charting out her future, but is sure about her desire to join ROTC and earn her commision.
“I think it’s going to take me good places in life,” she expressed.
Families, now more complete, wasted no time in getting off post. They will be back tomorrow to celebrate their Cadet’s graduation.
