FORT KNOX Ky.- Today was an exciting day for members of the Kentucky Cabinet. They had the amazing opportunity of learning how to rappel in the same fashion Cadets do at Cadet Summer Training. The event kicked off with brief safety instructions and demonstrations of correct and incorrect ways to rappel down the tower. Once demonstrations were complete, they began to fasten up their protective gear and practice what they learned on a smaller training wall.
After the cabinet members completed a dry run of belay and rappelling, they were ready for the real deal. One by one, each member climbed their way up the tower, taking in the fresh Kentucky air 64 feet above ground.
A quick safety check and instructions on how to properly descend the wall was all the cabinet members needed to take on this riveting adventure.
“I was a little nervous about doing this, but it was something I wanted to do so it was great,” stated Jon E. Park, Director of Constituent Services.
“I work at the governor’s office as the Director of Constituent Services. This is a great opportunity because I have a lot of connections with constituents who have sons and daughters here. So, this gives me a better idea of what goes on here and that allows me to communicate with those folks a little bit better,” continued Park.
“My biggest takeaway was being able to see the amount of professionalism and commitment that the Cadre have and just being in awe of what they do for the Cadets.”
This group did an amazing job building confidence within themselves and each other! Their presence was highly appreciated among Cadre and Cadet Summer Training was happy to host this group for the day.
