The Field Leadership Reaction Course (FLRC) is a cornerstone of Advance Camp training. This course is utilized to assess the leadership potential and competency of the Cadets being tested.

2nd Lt. Dalton Clark comments on FLRC’s uses, “FLRC gives Cadets a chance to expand their leadership skills.” He goes on to say, “you are supposed to fail most of this, FLRC challenges Cadets in order to increase the pressure on Cadets.”

This pressure allows supervising Cadre to assess how cadets react to pressure, and whether they rise to challenge and lead when expected to. These Cadets are indeed challenged by this course.

Cadet Jason Harriman, Embry Riddle Aeronautical University, states “Even with having prior experience dealing with this course you will still be challenged every time.”

FLRC is designed to encourage team building, improve problem-solving skills, and improve interpersonal resilience among the team as a whole. Success is entirely dependent on all team members working cohesively as one.

However, this test is also designed to make you become more self-aware of your own abilities. Cadet Janee Gomez, University of Texas San Antonio, explains what FLRC did for her, “ Its good to open your eyes to your own strengths and weaknesses.”

Cadet Janee claims the main tactic is confidence by saying, “just believe in yourself.”

The FLRC course will test all who attempt it, but cadets expect challenge, and where there is challenge there is always achievement and distinction.
