The U. S. Army Cadet Command Ranger Challenge is a demanding mental and physical team sport that puts Cadets through a grueling 2-day competition designed to enhance leader development, develop team cohesion, and to encourage healthy competition among the 274 Army ROTC Battalions. The Challenges take place over the Fall and Spring semesters, with each Brigade responsible for planning and executing their own concept that inspires excellence through rigorous physical and mental challenges that reflect the tempo, uncertainty and tasks of combat operations.
The Ranger Challenge has a long history in Army ROTC, and Cadets who compete and complete a Ranger Challenge earn the Ranger Challenge Tab. The Ranger Challenge Tab is the only United States Department of the Army individual qualification tab awarded exclusively to Reserve Officers’ Training Corps cadets, and approved by the Institute of Heraldry.
Each year, every Brigade in U. S. Army Cadet Command holds their Ranger Challenge competitions and, since 2019, each Brigade sends their top two teams to Sandhurst, the world’s premier international academy military skills competition held annually at West-Point.
This year, follow along with us as we track each Brigade’s Ranger Challenge and their #RoadToSandhurst.
