Fort Knox, Ky. — It is time to celebrate the first graduation of Cadet Summer Training 2021. 1st Regiment, Advanced Camp Cadets graduated on Brooks field at 9 a.m. on June 29, 2021.
As they prepared to leave Fort Knox, Cadets reflected on their time in Advanced Camp.
Cadet Brendon Edwards, Prairie View A&M University, said he feels he has learned a lot in his training both in soldering skills and about leadership.
“The biggest thing I have learned is that everyone has their own leadership style,” Edwards said. “Every interaction with people can be different. Certain things will work with some groups and certain things don’t.”
Cadet Julia Lefevers, Loyola University, is ready to continue chasing her dreams to go to law school and [commission] Judge Advocate General’s Corps (JAG).
“It is a great feeling to know that we are one step closer to accomplishing all our dreams and being an Army officer,” Lefevers said.
Cadets are given the opportunity to meet other Cadets from around the nation during their time here at CST. These Cadets often find the people who were once strangers are now some of the closest friends.
“They become your lifelong friends,” Lefever said.
“My battles [buddies], my other roomies and my platoon, we helped each other out through everything,” Edwards said.
Cadet Do Yeon Kim, California State University Fullerton, agreed with his fellow Cadet’s sentiments.
“The best part of today is the graduation. It is sad that I don’t get to see my battles anymore but I am hoping to see them again once I get commissioned and stationed somewhere else,” Kim siad.
Now that these Cadets have been released from camp, they will continue to work towards their upcoming commissionings as Second Lieutenants in the United States Army.
