FORT KNOX, Ky. – The 2nd Regiment, Advanced Camp Cadets arrived ready to participate in warrior skills training during a downpour and cooler weather conditions at Fort Knox, Ky., June 19, 2023.

A recent graduate from the University of South Alabama, 2nd Lt. Anna Lane, said that the warrior skills training ‘sets the foundation’ for the wolverine phase of the situation training exercise.

Lane explained how the red-robin style training works. Throughout training, Cadets rotate from station-to-station and are given the opportunity to learn about troop leading procedures, mission analysis, and how to cross linear danger areas.

Lane said that the purpose of this training is to provide Cadets with the tools they need to make tough decisions during future missions.

Despite the heavy rain, 2nd Regiment Cadet Seth Wallick from Texas A&M University went into warrior training ready to learn. Wallick believes in ‘mind over matter.’ He credits his positive mindset for why he has been able to get through the toughest parts of Advanced Camp so far.

“If you have the right mindset and the attitude of wanting to learn above all else, then that’s going to carry you through Cadet Summer Training,” Wallick said.

Wallick paid close attention to the lessons he received on danger areas. While crossing the danger areas with the rest of his squad, Wallick put his knowledge and teamwork skills into practice. Wallick said that he loves working at the squad level because ‘that’s where true leadership starts.’

Wallick has built strong relationships within his platoon and with his Cadre throughout CST. Wallick’s willingness not only to learn, but also to be a team player, has helped him make the most out of his experience at Advanced Camp. He is most looking forward to completing the field training exercise, which will give him a chance to earn his commission.

Wallick said, “The FTX is coming up, and that’s going to be an opportunity for us to really prove to our Cadre, and to ourselves, that we’re ready to commission as officers and ready to lead America’s Army.”
