Col. David Wood

Col. David Wood was raised in Noblesville, Ind., and attended Indiana University and Purdue University at Indianapolis. He was commissioned in May 1989 and entered active duty September 1990 at Fort Benning, Ga.

His military education includes the Infantry Officer Basic Course, Adjutant General Officer Advanced Course, Combined Arms Service Staff School, Command and General Staff College, and the United States Army War College.

Wood has a bachelor of arts degree from Indiana University, a master’s of business administration from Touro University International and a master’s in strategic studies from the United States Army War College.

Wood’s previous duty positions include platoon leader, company executive officer, battalion S1, and assistant S3, 3-502nd Infantry, Fort Campbell, Ky.; deputy J1, Joint Task Force 160, Guantanamo Bay, Cuba; commander, Charlie Detachment, 4th Personnel Services Battalion, Fort Carson, Colo.; commander, Headquarters and Headquarters Detachment, 546th Personnel Services Battalion and strength manager, 4th Infantry Division both at Fort Hood, Texas; small group instructor and chief, Advanced Officer Training, U.S. Army Adjutant General School, Fort Jackson, S.C.; battalion executive officer, 516th Personnel Services Battalion and theater strength manager, Eighth United States Army, Yongsan, Republic of Korea; assistant chief of staff, G1, 19th Sustainment Command, Daegu, Republic of Korea; battalion commander, 369th Adjutant General Battalion, Fort Jackson, S.C.; executive officer to the deputy commanding general, Advise and Train, United States Forces-Iraq, Baghdad, Iraq; and chief, Commander’s Initiatives Group, Human Resources Command, Fort Knox, Ky.

His awards and decorations include the Bronze Star Medal, Meritorious Service Medal (four oak-leaf clusters), Joint Service Commendation Medal (w/oak-leaf cluster), Army Commendation Medal (w/oak-leaf cluster), Joint Service Achievement Medal, Army Achievement Medal (two oak-leaf clusters), Joint Meritorious Unit Award, Expert Infantryman Badge, Airborne Badge, Air Assault Badge and Ranger Tab.

Wood is married with four children.
