Nathan Abbott is a student at Ball State University majoring in photojournalism. His obsession with storytelling began in 2016 while he was looking for a hobby to enrich his life while working as a shipyard boilermaker. That hobby quickly consumed his life to the point where he backed away from his welding career in order to attend university and study his current pursuit in photojournalism. Abbott is hoping to advance his knowledge and hone his skill in still photography and videography while interning for the Army ROTC public affairs CST team at Fort Knox.
Savannah Baird is a recent graduate from Ball State University, back for her second term as a U.S. Army Cadet Command PAO intern. Baird graduated with a degree in photojournalism and hopes to use her experience as a PAO intern, and covering other miscellaneous Army events, to begin her career in military photojournalism after the summer.
Erinn Finley is a senior at Murray State University majoring in journalism. She enjoys writing, reading, travel and photography. She worked for the student newspaper at her campus to further her writing skills outside of the classroom. During the Cadet Summer Training internship she hopes to further her photography and writing skills.
Ellie Krouse is a student at Murray State University. She is majoring in Public Relations and is double minoring in Marketing and Chinese Studies. She grew up in Lexington, Ky. and has enjoyed dancing for over 10 years. This summer she is a part of the social media team where she is excited to learn more about effectively running a social media account and advancing her skills.
Kathryn is a recent graduate from Ball State University with a degree in photojournalism and a minor in political science. She is also a current Cadet Command public affairs intern. She is interested in pursuing a career in photojournalism and is specifically interested in documentary photography and wildlife photography. In her free time, she enjoys photography, writing, skateboarding and spending time with family and friends. She also loves being outdoors and working around wildlife.
Dylan Walter is a student at Ball State University majoring in Public Relations with a minor in History. Dylan is working towards learning more about Photo Journalism and Media management. He hopes to hone his skills in both during his time interning for the Army ROTC Public Affairs CST team at Fort Knox.
Madelyn Guinn is a CST PAO intern from Martinsville, Indiana that graduated from Ball State University in 2023 with a Photojournalism Major and Sociology Minor. Guinn first fell in love with photography in 2015 when they began taking photos for their high school yearbook and has always favored sports and action photography. While interning at Fort Knox, KY this summer, Guinn is eager to gain experience with military action photography and hopes to expand her knowledge on more videography work by the end of this internship.
Kate Koennecke is a rising junior at The Ohio State University double-majoring in Political Science and Strategic Communications. This summer, Koennecke will be working as a Public Affairs Intern, covering events throughout Cadet Summer Training this summer as a Photojournalist. Koennecke has had many experiences working in the public sphere, including interning for the Ohio Statehouse for the Ohio Democratic Caucus in the Senate in the fall of 2022. Once this summer comes to an end, Koennecke hopes to take back her knowledge of Public Affairs back to the Buckeye state with her.
Lanie Guinn is going into her Junior year of college at Ball State University. She is majoring in Journalism with a concentration in photographic storytelling with a double minor in strategic communication and psychological science. This summer Lanie is interning as a Public Affairs Officer for the CST program. She hopes to learn and continue to build on skills in photography and videography. Outside of school, she is quite the adrenaline junkie who enjoys being outdoors and trying new things.
Jaden Whiteman is a senior at Ball State University, majoring in photojournalism. She grew up in Indianapolis, Indiana. She has an interest in sports photography and nature photography. You can often find her curled up with a book or out hiking. She hopes to learn more writing skills and broadcasting skills. She hopes to polish up her photo skills this summer as a Public Affairs Office intern at Cadet Summer Training.
Sophia Young is a senior at Ohio University in the Honors Tutorial College majoring in journalism on the news and information track with minors in political science and studio art. Sophia works for The Post, the independent newspaper in Athens, Ohio, where she contributes to news writing, coding, multimedia and audience engagement sections. She also worked as a general assignment reporting intern for Coastal Point and a web design/media intern for Ohio University Admissions where she helped launch the university’s first podcast. Sophia has a passion for telling stories through a multitude of formats but loves video and audio post-production, in which she hopes to find a job after graduation.
Keaton Silver is a student at The University of Mississippi (Ole Miss) majoring in Integrated Marketing & Communications in the school of Journalism and New Media. Silver is originally from San Clemente, California, but now resides in Las Vegas, Nevada. Silver also happens to be an Army ROTC cadet at Ole Miss, and plans to focus on photo journalism before attending Advanved Camp the second half of the summer.
Emily Hudson is a senior from Henderson, KY, attending Murray State University. She is majoring in public relations, planning to earn a bachelor's degree in the spring of 2024. This summer, she is working on the social media team, monitoring analytics, photographing field training, and graphic designing. In her free time, Hudson enjoys being outdoors, reading, and cooking. She hopes to further her knowledge in her area of study and meet new people along the way.
Hayley Seibert is a sophomore transitioning into her junior year at Florida State University majoring in Editing Writing and Media with a minor in Communications in Media Studies. Seibert’s career aspirations are to enter the broadcast journalism field and become a well-rounded journalist with a passion for people. At Florida State, Seibert is a staff reporter for the FSView, an independent student-run newspaper, and she is also a student reporter in FSU’s Advanced Feature Reporting course. Seibert is most passionate about listening to people’s stories and writing them in a way that resonates with television audiences. Seibert has reported on college sports broadcasters, college mascots, historical events, and many other stories ranging in topics. This summer Seibert is excited to be able to tell the stories of Army ROTC cadets as they undergo different training events and develop their field knowledge during their time at Fort Knox.
Thaliya Martinez is from Evanston, Illinois and attends Olivet Nazarene University. She majors in Multimedia Communications with a concentration in Film Studies along with a minor in Military Science and Military Affairs. Her passion for photography and videography started when she was young. Her passion for photography and videography grew stronger from capturing her soccer, cross country, and track and field team in high school. Also, working as a professional sports videographer and photojournalist for MileSplit Illinois. In college, she has some experience of being a Cadet Public Affairs Officer from her Rolling Thunder Battalion Army ROTC program. Her goal for the internship is to let God lead the way in her showing the world the 100% that the Cadets put in every day and that there’s more behind these Cadets then just them in uniform. Thaliya wants to strengthen her night photography, audio skills, and writing skills while interning for the Army ROTC Public Affairs CST team at Fort Knox.
Hydia Jackson is a photojournalism student at Western Kentucky University. She has experience working at WKU student publications, covering marketing and campus life. Moving forward, Jackson wishes to gain more experience in editorial work. Jackson is passionate about meeting new people and finding creative ways to tell their stories. As a public affairs intern for Cadet Summer Training, she hopes to expand her knowledge on the world of storytelling.
Connor Kerwin is a student enrolled at Carson Newman University, majoring in graphic design. He has been invested in graphic arts and has exceptional skills as an artist. Drawing is a hobby of his and he is looking for more experience in digital media and photography to enhance his work, and explore more career opportunities while interning for the CST Public Affairs team located at Fort Knox, KY.
Rosalita Mitchell is a junior from Greenwood, IN, attending Ball State University. She is majoring in journalism with a concentration in mass communications, as well as minoring in anthropology. This summer, Mitchell is a member of both the social media and photojournalism teams. She expects to learn new technical skills and further her knowledge in the journalism field. In her free time, Mitchell likes to listen to true crime podcasts, reading, and exercising.
Danielle Smith, an upcoming senior at Ohio University majoring in journalism with a minor in marketing, is currently serving as a CST Public Affairs Office intern at Fort Knox, KY this summer. As she delves into her role, Danielle aims to not only refine her multimedia skills but also elevate them by narrating the compelling stories of Cadets in a deeply meaningful manner. With her graduation slated for May 2024, she envisions a future in the media industry, where she can continue to make an impact. Beyond her professional endeavors, Danielle finds immense pleasure in indulging her passion for food exploration as a devoted foodie. Furthermore, her insatiable wanderlust fuels her love for travel, making her an enthusiastic travel addict.
Sam Mitchell is a senior at Murray State University where he is pursuing a Bachelor’s Degree Journalism/Media Production. He hopes to grow as a videographer, editor, and photographer over the course of this internship. After college, Mitchell hopes to speak for a living, pursuing a career in radio and voiceover. Above all else, he aspires to have fun and truly enjoy whatever kind of situation he finds himself in.
Abigail Chipps is a West Chester University of Pennsylvania graduate student working towards her M.A. in Communication Studies and a certificate in Digital Media Marketing. In May 2023, she graduated magna cum laude from WCUPA with her B.A. in Media and Culture, a concentration in Strategic Communication, and a minor in Chinese. As a Public Affairs Intern, Abigail has previously worked at the USAG Humphreys Public Affairs Office in Pyeongtaek, South Korea. She also works as an Online Editor for the university’s student newspaper service. As an intern for CST 2023, Abigail hopes to further her video production and social media skills for a future career in communication and public service.
