There are three events within the APFT; sit-ups, push-ups and a two mile run. Cadets must do the number of repetitions of push-ups and sit-ups for their age and gender within two minutes. The ACFT will replace the current Army Physical Fitness Test (APFT) starting October 1, 2020. The current APFT consists of three separate parts – push-ups, sit ups and a two-mile run. The new test has six parts. Soldiers must perform a deadlift between 140-340 pounds, throw a 10-pound medicine ball behind their back, do push-ups, execute the sprint/drag/carry, complete leg tucks and run two miles. Standards for the APFT are set based on age and gender, with the minimum standard for each event set at 60 points.
